The first production of John Paul Jones was staged by The Freedom Company in July 2001 at the Church Hill Theatre, Edinburgh, produced by Julian Wagstaff and David Pammenter. The show enjoyed fantastic audience reactions and encouraging reviews. Visit the Freedom Company site for contact info and links.

The musical tells the story of the gardener's son from Nithsdale, Scotland who became a hero of the American War of Independence as the "Father of the American Navy". It is a story of triumph, tragedy, love and loss, and the effect of one man's consuming ambition on those closest to him.
